Jaye Gardiner, PhD
Postdoc, Fox Chase Cancer Center - Temple Health

Panelist for 'Dual Career Panel'

Dr. Jaye Gardiner is a Chicago native who earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Macalester College, a small liberal arts school in St. Paul, Minnesota. After a wonderful undergraduate research experience, she decided to pursue research as a career and moved to Madison, Wisconsin. As a graduate student in the Cancer Biology program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, she studied how HIV effectively spreads between cells and the resulting altered cellular behaviors for her dissertation, which culminated in earning her Ph.D. in 2017. When looking for postdoctoral opportunities, she wanted to learn more about how cells can modulate their environment but also position herself in a place where her partner could find a postdoctoral position the following year.
The abundance of institutions in Philadelphia more than met these requirements so breaking her Midwestern living and training streak, Dr. Gardiner moved to work at the Fox Chase Cancer Center as a postdoctoral fellow. Now, she researches the fibrotic tumor microenvironment of pancreatic cancer and how the cells responsible (fibroblasts) are epigenetically regulated.

Dr. Gardiner currently lives in Philadelphia with her partner, Dr. Khoa Tran, a postdoctoral fellow at University of Pennsylvania
